Case Study - Digestive Health
When Mrs W first came to see me, she was finding it more and more difficult to digest a variety of foods therefore her diet had become extremely limited and going out for meals was a complete nightmare. Food was passing through her in an undigested condition and she was needing to rush to the toilet up to four times every morning before she could even attempt to leave the house.
We decided to do a stool analysis test which showed an overgrowth of yeast and low levels of beneficial bacteria. We supported her digestive system with appropriate supplementation, avoided dairy products which can often upset the digestion and cause bloating and gradually she was able to re-introduce foods back into her diet.
We have now been able to address the yeast problem and work on re-populating the beneficial bacteria in her gut. Five months on and she is extremely well, has lost a stone in weight (an added bonus for her) and she feels "better than she has done in years".
Case Study - Post Natal Depression
Mrs P had her first child 18 months prior to her first visit to me. She had suffered severe post natal depression ever since and was taking anti depressants which she felt were making her feel "spaced out". Her diet was very healthy but she was eating a lot of wheat which can worsen depressive symptoms in susceptible people. Her hair mineral analysis showed low zinc levels, a vital nutrient for the healthy production of the brain's neurotransmitters.
Within six weeks of a wheat free diet and taking the prescribed supplementation to correct her nutrient imbalances she returned feeling much better. Over the next three months her health and mood continued to improve enough for her to return to her doctor to ask to reduce the anti-depressants. Within six months of her first visit she was off the medication completely. She is now on a three month pre-conceptual nutritional plan and aiming to start trying to conceive her second child thereafter.
