About the Menopause

When a woman reaches around the age of 50, she will go through the menopause. This is when her periods stop and she uses the ability to have children naturally. This process can be tough and has many physical and mental side effects.

8 out of 10 women struggle to manage family, work and intimate relationships during the menopause. It can be an isolating time which can lead to depression.

There are a massive 30-40 symptoms that go along with menopause. These include:

  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Joint aches
  • Hot flushes
  • Night sweats
  • Heavy or irregular bleeding
  • Stomach upsets
  • Low libido
  • Brain dog
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Joint aches

and one that can drastically affect a woman's self-esteem - weight gain.

Weight Gain

Weight gain is common through the peri menopause and post-menopause years as the body’s natural metabolism slows.

Plus an abundance of nutrient deficiencies which have built up through life can really start to kick in as the body is under more pressure due to hormonal fluctuations.  Additionally, short and long term stress upsets blood sugar balance leading to the troublesome ‘belly fat'. The body tries to put on fat since the fat cells become the main source of oestrogen as the ovaries cease to secrete oestrogen.

Losing Weight

Menopause symptoms can be extremely stressful which can bring on further hormone imbalance. You can lose weight and get back to your former self through diet and lifestyle changes. There is no need for synthetic hormones!

Hormone Tests

Suzie can provide hormone testing which will inform you of which stage of the menopause you are at. This is an easy saliva test which can be taken in the comfort of your own home. The test measures your adrenal function - which produces stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Suzie analyses your results, stress levels and adrenal exhaustion.

We can also carry out a hormone panel test which measures oestrogen and progesterone levels over the course of a month. This will test if stress is further effecting menopause symptoms and energy levels. This is far more accurate than a one-off test which is offered by your GP. It measures fluctuations in your hormone levels. This can unearth issues that can be solved.
